For one it’s spam free as people have to double opt-in to the safelist and thereby agreeing to receive your ads, should some nutter decide that the safelist mail is spam anyway it’s not really your problem as the mail is not sent from your email address or server. Actually this is the
origin of the name, a safelist is a closed community where it is safe for members to exchange ads.

The second advantage is quite obvious but many people fail to see this, what does all safelist members have in common?

They have something to sell, but they have not advanced far enough in their internet marketing carreer to dismiss a very mundane task as posting to safelist is. That means that if you have a product, report, ebook, income opportunity etc. that can help people on the way to internet glory, the average safelist user is an excellent prospect for you.

Why I will always use safelists

I could probably make do without safelists but I sure wont.

Safelist are a starting point for many newbie marketers and picking those up as subscribers and customers can be very profitable e.g. they do not own every product out there and they do not know everything, meaning that you have plenty of stuff to sell them. You can see this as opposed to getting *Mike Filsaime* on your list, when your initial giggling wears off you will probably realize that Mike owns everything you promote and if he doesn’t he will probably create his own version anyway…

Speaking of *Mike Filsaime* did you know he started his internet marketing career using safelists? I have listened to several conference calls where Mike explains how he built a list of *7000* members using nothing but safelists and that list netted him $7000 a month. In fact Mike and his “intern” Jason Dinner are still regular safelist user although I believe they pay people to do the dirty work nowadays…

…imagine that, paying people to do your safelist posting, I’m pretty sure Jason and Mike don’t find safelists useless!

SEO experts use these strategies all the time - there is no reason you can’t follow their lead. The concept of SEO seems complex but, there are basic search engine optimization principles you should be aware of before beginning any SEO related activity.

These basic principles are essential for any web page or website for which you are attempting to optimize. These are just some of the fundamental SEO things you should consider.

1. MetaTags Metatags are simple lines of code at the top of your page (HTML source code) that tell the search engines about your page. Be sure to include the following meta tags:
title (no more than 7 words and unique for each page), keywords, description, author, and robots tag. The robots tag instructs the search engines to read all or some of your website.

2. Create a sitemap. Developing a site map is an easy effective way to give search engines the information they need to crawl your entire website. Ensuring that the engine has an up-to-date record of your pages and content. The key is to make it easy for your web pages to be located and
crawled. There is free software on the web (like www.xml-sitemaps.com) that helps you generate a sitemap.

Once you create a sitemap for your website, submit to Google and Yahoo. Place a link to the site map on your home page also.

3. Make sure all your navigation is in HTML. You can use java script or images. The navigation works in this format, But, it’s not optimized. HTML navigation is more beneficial because you can consistently build internal links throughout your website by keeping the navigation constant and easily identified by search engines.

4. Make sure all your images include ALT text. Your image alt text is spidered by search engines. Use keywords in your alt text, to improve search engine result placement. Be sure to label your images appropriately and they may even show up as the number one result on Google. Google has a database of images (Google Image Search) that indexes pictures as well.

5. Use Flash sparingly. As mentioned earlier, content generated through java script or flash is a big no-no. Some webmasters like to use flash because of the presentation. It’s okay to use sparingly, but only after your site has been properly optimized with basic SEO in mind.

6. Make sure that important page elements are HTML Keep in mind when optimizing a web page crawlers are basically only looking at your source code. Anything you’ve put together using an image or other multimedia component is likely to be invisible to search engines. Therefore, the most important elements of your page, where the heart of your content is
presented, should be presented in W3C optimized HTML source code.

7. Place keywords in your page content the right way  I’m sure
you’ve heard the importance of placing the right keywords or keyword phrases in your content. To show the search engines that your article is focused on a particular keyword or keyword phrase, be sure to sprinkle it throughout the content.

Additionally, include your keyword in headers and sub-heads.
That is to say that your keyword should be contained in an h1, h2, or h3 tag.

Learning to optimize your website for search engines takes time and most of all, patience. Start with the basic principles I’ve outline here and you’re off to a good start. If you’re new to SEO, or even a well seasoned veteran, begin by prioritizing which pages are most important for you to optimize.

Sometimes people think that they need to optimize all their pages right away and the task becomes too overwhelming.

Start small, begin with your primary and/or secondary pages, and go from there.
